Day 3

Today we walked to the Aventine Hill where we visited the Basilica of Saint Sabina, took in the view of the city, and peeked through the famous Aventine keyhole (pictured here). We stopped by a neighborhood market where we got to mix with the locals and experience the sounds, sights, and hustle-and-bustle of the market. Fresh vegetables, fruit, meat, seafood, and all kinds of things were for sale. We then we ventured outside of the ancient city walls and learned how to make pasta! It was delicious!!

After our pasta making lesson we took the metro back to the historic center and visited the Palatine Hill. The Palatine Hill has great views of the city and Forum and features the ruins of an ancient palace. It also has some beautiful gardens. It's part of the legend of Romulus and Remus who founded Rome. The nearby Capitoline Museum (which we visited on a different day) features many of the artifacts from Palatine Hill.
